Ashtanga Basics [top]
A PRACTICE FOR BEGINNERS AND EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONERS
This class introduces participants to the unique style and
regimen of Ashtanga Yoga, the basis for Power Yoga as it is practiced in
studios throughout the country. A goal of the course is for all
participants to achieve their own expression of Ashtanga Yoga’s full
Primary Series.
Ashtanga uses a systematic approach: an established series of
poses, and a fluid linking of the poses through smooth transitional
movement, or vinyasa. Through its controlled breathing and internal
muscular focus, the practice builds both external and internal strength,
endurance, and flexibility, restoring the natural unity and integrity of
body, mind, and spirit.
In any individual’s yoga practice, each posture has an ideal
expression: in this class, each practitioner will work with the support
and guidance of the teacher to understand and move toward that
individual ideal expression.
This practice is suitable for all levels, from beginning students
to more experienced yoga students who want to renew their practice and
return to the beginner’s mind that is essential in all yoga. The
instructor gives close individual attention to each participant, and
instructs in and encourages the use of modifications and adjustments
according to the participant’s needs.
Power Of Centering [top]
Yoga teaches us to center ourselves in
body, mind, and spirit; from that center, we move with power, stillness
of mind, and grace. The Power of Centering will focus on building
strength, flexibility, and focus through a hatha yoga practice that
incorporates elements from various forms, including Ashtanga, Iyengar,
and Vinyasa.
The
class is suitable for people at all levels of yoga practice, from
beginner to advanced. Through focus on the breath, on the core muscle
groups, and on the natural center, or “seat,” of poses and
transitions, participants will practice the centering of yoga to bring
its benefits both on the mat, and off the mat and into daily life.
Beginners Yoga [top]
This class will introduce participants to all aspects of Yoga including
breathing and meditation. Instruction focus will be on the correct
execution of asanas (postures) and building a strong foundation for
future yoga practice. Gentle modifications and individualized attention
to participants will be provided to meet the unique needs of those just
beginning the journey and support the development of those who wish to
expand their personal practice beyond books and videos. Class size is
limited
BalanceFlow
Belly Dance [top]
Balance
Flow Belly Dance is a dance/fitness class with a holistic approach.
Various levels…beginners welcome!

relaxation, and fun dance combinations—all centered around the
exhilarating art of Belly Dance. Come and dance from your soul...for your
soul. Please wear comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing and bring
a yoga mat. Put

Power Yoga [top]
Alignment-Based Power Yoga: this class presents a modified Astanga
sequence, and gives equal attention to the building of strength and
suppleness, and to the best anatomical structure of each pose for each
individual participant’s body-type. It would be an especially useful
course for people who have been active athletically and who are
interested in working through old injuries or imbalances brought on by
their athletic involvement, or by the periods of physical neglect that
can follow intense athletic involvement
RESTORATIVE YOGA [top]
A gentle practice that passively opens the body to help de-stress as
well as to encourage deep relaxation. Restorative yoga can soothe the
nervous system, aid in digestion, calm the mind, and promote total body
health. The Sunday evening practice is a perfect way to close the
weekend and embrace Monday with a happy heart. Accessible to everyone.
Prenatal Yoga [top]
Prenatal yoga addresses the physical and emotional changes one
experiences throughout a pregnancy. Yoga can help alleviate some
physical challenges common during pregnancy, such as backache, poor
circulation, restless sleep, and struggles with balance. Yoga has also
been used to keep the body in shape throughout the pregnancy and to tone
and create flexibility in the parts of the body used during the birthing
process. The emphasis on different breathing techniques calms the nerves
and relieves stress, and may be useful during labor. Yogic meditation
builds focus while melting away anxieties. A prenatal yoga class is a
great way to meet other pregnant women, forge a community, and stay
positive and motivated. While this class is appropriate for all levels,
please consult with your medical practitioner about what is appropriate
for your pregnancy.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga [top]
Students attending this class can expect the flow to be
sometimes slow, sometimes fast. Classes will generally begin with
Pranayama or breathing exercises to generate heat.
Kapalabhati breathing while holding postures will
be a regular part of the class. There will
generally be a standard series of postures, such as
Sun Salutations, with a variety of other postures. Although
all levels are welcome, the student attending this class should be
generally familiar with basic asanas and prepared to move quickly from
posture to posture or move slowly, holding the posture for an extended
period before transitioning to the next posture.
New
and challenging postures will be added from time to
time. An atmosphere of non-judgment, self-acceptance, and
good humor can be expected. Modifications
will be offered as will opportunities to deepen
the postures.
Ride the transformative wave of vinyasa and enjoy a dynamic, engaging
practice designed to stimulate body, mind and spirit by bringing the
fluid body into balance with the vibrating world. Combining graceful,
energetic movement with breathwork and centering strategies, the vinyasa
practice cultivates physical vigor and precision, which brings mental
energy and clarity. Increase strength and flexibility and restore
balance by beginning or ending your day with vinyasa flow.
T.G.I.F. Yoga [top]
Class will be a combination of stretching, core work, opening hips ,
wrists and shoulders ( the parts of the body most effected by desk

joints and muscles, ending with the much needed end of work week
relaxation.

Smile.). Postnatal yoga is a wonderful way to get back into your
practice, and help balance your body after so many changes have taken
place. It's also a wonderful way to connect with your baby and engage
with your baby in new ways. You'll have an opportunity to foster
community with new moms, in a non-competitive atmosphere. You'll
also be able to enjoy the healing, centering, and awareness that yoga
provides. It's usually a good idea to wait
until your baby is at least six weeks old to start, so feel free to join
anytime during the session. Baby's up to 12
months are welcome. Please consult your doctor or
midwife about your exercise needs and capabilities after giving birth.
Please know too, that we all understand that we can't
always expect our babies to "go along" with our yoga practice
at every minute of the yoga practice. Postnatal yoga will have a loose
format, so anytime you need to leave the room to feed
your baby or change your baby, feel free to do so,
and return when you're ready to rejoin the group.(4 weeks – crawling)
Bring your baby’s blanket and favorite toy.
